Facts about Maple Trees

Did you know that maple trees can live up to 200 years and more? The sugar maple has the highest content of sugar in its sap than any other maple species, however, it takes around 40 litres of sap to make one litre of maple syrup! Most trees create between 35-55 litres of sap in a season so although creating delicious maple syrup is a laborious process, we think the taste is totally worth it!

Facts about pecans

1. The name ‘pecan’ is a native American word that was used to describe nuts that required a stone to crack.

2. Pecan trees create nuts on alternate bearing years - this means one year the nuts will be heavy in weight and one year they will be light.

3. Pecan trees can live to over 200 years old.

Ochil Fudge Pantry Maple & Pecan Fudge

We think maple and pecan are two fantastic ingredients and that’s why we combined them to create our Maple & Pecan Fudge!

To make this delicious Handmade Fudge, a generous amount of Canadian maple syrup and pecan nuts are mixed with our Great Taste award-winning Just Plain Fudge recipe to leave you with a sublime mix of sweet and nutty.

To give a fuller flavour, we've lightly toasted the pecans and the result is a beautiful balance of maple flavour and a light crunch of rich pecan which will leave you wanting more. An absolute delight and is proving to be a very popular addition to our range so why not indulge yourself with this Autumnal match made in heaven!
